Drawing Practice ( Moving to Fashion )

Here's something different I draw before .
In this sketching , there body , hands and legs were longer .
It give one's a pleasant looking in fashion .

Let's compare :
On the left, it looks more lively .
On the right, it looks a little stiff and is following the human proportion .

This is how far I'd learnt ...
Now I'm working on my 1st collection .
The theme is "Candy"
I only can draw , might not able to make the outfit out .
Is because , I do not have the money to do it .
Anyway , I'll update it soon .

Obi, Mini Beg & Complete Look (Yukata)

I finally completed the yukata on the Saturday ( 1/9/2012 )

About the obi I not sure about the fabric a bought .
I bought about one and a half meter (150cm) .
It cost me RM16 ...
I didn't buy 3meter . My mum no money .
So here is the obi ( the belt )
Is a soft obi, I can't find the proper obi fabric .
The obi size was 17cm width and 300cm-400cm long .
As you can see, I have to stitch the cloth together to get the length I wanted .
So total I have to cut three pieces out and stitch it twice .
Since I have extra cloth, I decided to make a small beg .
I just imagine and cut the pattern out .
The pattern are basically a square & rectangle pattern .
Is a rectangle base beg .
This small beg suits my yukata well and it can put all my stuff in it .
Here's my complete look of the yukata
Do I looks sweet !? ( hehex...)
Where I go wearing my yukata ? check out my personal blog...

I still have extra fabric . I going to sew a high waist short skirt . Stay tune for that .

Outdoor Sketching

During my semester break , since last week ( 19 August ) .
I'd been practising my fashion human anatomy .
I realize that practising at home I won't move any further , I just stuck at drawing the basic ( like trapezium, circle, square, lines to build up a human body ) .
So I decided to go to shopping centre and look at those mannequin ( were dressed ) that displayed at the shop .

The first stop, I went was at Midvalley .
The reason I choose that place is because they have expensive & beautiful clothes .
Most of the clothes are branded and well design .

On the second stop, I went to Sunway Pyramid .
I wanted to practice more, but there's something unhappy happen .
I actually I went there because my boyfriend was there with his friends .
Somehow, when I went there . My boyfriend and his friends went into karaoke and I was alone .
I got sad the moment I find a nice mannequin to draw .
It stop me from drawing , but I told myself, "is ok, I can draw it " .
The final looks ugly . I only manage to draw two .
Emotion very important, it will effect your drawing .

Love my duck signature (hehe...)

First Sewing ( Yukata )

Today I done my 1st complete sewing .
I sew a Yukata, is a Japanese garment, a casual summer kimono .
The reason I choose this is because the pattern is basically make out of square and I think is easy for a beginner to learn everything, like sewing the collar and attaching the fabric and so on .
I borrowed my friend's yukata as my reference .

Me and my mum went and buy and chose the fabric at Gulatis Silk House Subang USJ .
I love red maroon colour or any colour that related to that colour . So I chose pink , is cute and lovely .
So my mum bought me cheap Japanese cotton fabric , no money to get expensive one and since is my first time .

When I start to draw and cut the pattern, my mum assisted me . I realize is not that easy . I do not have the original yukata pattern, so I have to find it myself from my friend's yukata and the internet . Of course, my mum help me a lot . She know a lot in sewing field .
This is what me and my mum manage to figure out the pattern .
Looks messy right !?
After finalization, I measure and draw it on the newspaper . After that only draw the pattern on the fabric .
Cutting the fabric is a big knowledge . Is not easy to cut a straight line but is easy to cut crooked line . My mum teach me various way to cut fabric .

Next is sewing ! Sewing is the thing I worried the most . My grandma is the one who assist me a long the way . She teach me different technique and ways to sew along the side , collar , cuff and many more . She also told me that ironing is very important in the sewing process . Sometimes you might sew a bit crooked , but after iron , it will looks very nice and perfect . Amazing right ?

After few days , my yukata finally done . Is just that I can't find a suitable obi fabric . Obi is yukata belt .

Here's my yukata ...
Final

Drawing Practice

My practice
I'd been practising figure drawing this few days . It is very important to learn human anatomy before you start designing your own fashion . After few days of practising, my major problem is drawing hands . I barely get it right . It always looks so funny when I draw the hands . The finger I draw looks like octopus legs . I need to put more effort on drawing it . I borrow a lot of books from my college library to learn more about fashion .
